All First Nations, Tribal Councils and Political Organizations that receive transfer payments from any federal government department are required to submit a Schedule of Federal Government Funding.
For purposes of this requirement:
"First Nations" means "bands" within the meaning of the Indian Act. "Transfer Payments" means payments which are made on the basis of an appropriation by Parliament for which no goods or services are directly received. The different types of transfer payments that recipients may receive are grants, contributions, flexible transfer payments, alternative funding arrangements and other transfer payments. The amounts transferred to recipients for Comprehensive, Specific and other claims settlements are not included in the schedule. The Year-end Reporting Handbook
(428 Kb, 36 Pages)
or
(html)
provides direction to First Nations, Tribal Councils and Political Organizations in completing this reporting requirement.
